The Olympic Village is located in the north-east corner if the community; it was built on the escarpment facing Sarcee Trail and the Bow River to host athletes during the 1988 Winter Olympics, and was subsequently converted to condominiums. The lands (formerly part of the East Springbank area) were annexed to the City of Calgary in 1995, and Cougar Ridge was established in 2001. In 2006 the neighbourhood had a population of 4,375.
